Throughout history every culture used flutes and/or drums to express experiences, to conduct ceremonies, to tell stories and to unite their people.  The Native Americans used the flute mainly for courting.

However, over the years it has become a versatile instrument used for enjoyment by individuals and groups with and without accompaniment.
