One Light Self-Defense begins with a team of diversified individuals who share a common interest, as well as experience, in self-defense training.
The group embraces a common vision to train, equip, encourage, and protect people as well as increase awareness about domestic and international abuse. While traveling to Kenya in 2009 to train girls from the slums of Nairobi, the team heard heart-breaking stories about the extensive cases of abuse, rape, and abduction happening in that community. While it was shocking, it was quickly apparent that these circumstances exist the USA; the American culture simply puts a cosmetic cover on it, looks the other way, excuses bad behavior, and heaps shame on victims.
One Light Self-Defense’s primary action is leading self-defense workshops that are based on a release and run concept. Participants learn precautionary safety measures and physical defensive techniques to use when being attacked.
We, The Gathering Lighthouse, will empower our Community with this class.
Our Mission is dedicated to teach individuals self-empowerment; personal strength and leadership skills to use in all aspects of life
